Many questioned why an interim title fight between Carlos Prates and Michael Morales is taking place instead of a Makhachev defense prior to Ramadan. The pound-for-pound great revealed on social media that his next fight will be one of the last of his legendary career.\n\nWith time running out on Makhachev’s Hall of Fame run, Michael Bisping thinks a middleweight title fight could be in order. Bisping hopped on his YouTube channel to react to Makhachev revealing his career is winding down. “The Count” strongly believes a middleweight title fight should be in reach if Makhachev can defeat the winner of Prates vs. Morales (via MMAFighting.com).\n\n*“He says he’s almost done,” Bisping said. “One of his last fights. So say he has this one, let’s say he beats the winner of Prates and Morales. So then he’s got two defenses at welterweight, four defenses at lightweight, that moving up to 185 and trying to become the triple champ? I like the sound of that.*\n\n*“And if anyone deserves it, it is Islam Makhachev. Remember, Alex Pereira was just granted that opportunity to go up to heavyweight and fight Ciryl Gane.”*\n\nThe question is, would Makhachev himself be open to the idea of moving up for a chance at a third title? Back in late 2024, American Kickboxing Academy head coach Javier Mendez told The Schmo that he has no doubt Makhachev could pull it off. Mendez did note that he wasn’t sure if it was something Makhachev wanted to do, however.\n\n**Do you think Islam Makhachev will attempt to win the UFC middleweight title before he retires?
